2010 Mental Health Series: Supporting School Success
The Supporting School Success training series is based on lessons learned from our experience administering a three year evidence-based, best practice program called Early Risers. We will incorporate elements of the Early Risers curriculum and lessons learned in our training series. The training sessions will discuss building children’s strengths in the four areas of development- cognitive, motor, and social and language. The eleven training sessions will be divided into three themes: Preparing for school success, Nurturing School Success and Managing School success. CEU Certificates are available.

Mental Health Training
The Healthy Families Network identified training in the area of mental health as one of four program areas for Provider Group collaboration. The committee worked with Dr. Abigail Gewirtz, a child psychologist on the staff at the Institute for Child Development at the University of Minnesota to identify needs and resources for training.
In January 2005, The Provider Group began sponsoring monthly half-day training workshops for supportive housing service staff on issues related to mental and chemical health, with half of the sessions focusing on the needs of children and half on homeless adults. The training is now in its fourth year.
