Children's Mental Health

Recognizing family homelessness can impact multiple generations, any effort to end the cycle of homelessness must support parents to nurture the health and well being of their children. Supportive housing organizations can provide a secure environment that helps parents meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of their children.

Beginning in 2010, the Visible Child Initiative sponsored by the FSHC will include a number of training opportunities for supportive housing staff and advocates working with very young and school age children in homeless and formerly homeless families.
