Public Education

The Infant Toddler Discovery Project and the Early Risers Project are just two of the research and discovery projects sponsored by the Family Supportive Housing Center with support from the Family Housing Fund. These projects provided important information about the status and needs of families that have experienced homelessness. Most important, the trauma associated with the experience of homelessness has a devastating impact on parents and children. (Refer to the Research and Discovery tab to find reports from the Infant Toddler Discovery Project and the Early Risers Project.)

All children need to be surrounded by adults who care about them and understand their developmental needs. No one needs this healthy start more than children who have been homeless. Speaking up on behalf of our children who have experienced homelessness is the most effective way to insure homeless children have the healthy start they deserve.
